Nowadays, Sony Ericsson has finally jumped onto the thin-phone bandwagon which is Sony Ericsson W880i with only 10mm. This phone released a week before the 3GSM World Congress in February. Actually, I feel impressive about Sony Ericsson’s new offering due to it is not only thin profile but come with an extensive feature set that including 3G, 2 megapixel camera, expandable memory card slot and Bluetooh stereo support. The market price for this phone in Malacca estimated around RM1799 including 1G memory card.

How About W880i Design?
So far as I concern, this W880i considered is one of the slimmest phone and ranks as the thinnest 3G candy bars in the cellular market right now. Besides its thin form factor, this W880i let me feel solid and its powerful construction and stainless steel front cover make me fall in love with it at the first sight! The lightweight for this phone is at 71g and slim enough to put inside our tight pocket as well. This phone designed to stand out from the conventional grey or black handsets with its bright colors makes it more nuance, elegance and attractive.

Most of feedback for this phone is most about its tiny keypad, it is much smaller than even the size of a rice grain and the buttons are not only hard to press and the sharp edges of the keys can be painful when texting for prolonged periods. In addition, most of the users might face the similar issues with the navigation and various softkeys as it is too small for comfortable usage. Occasionally, users might hit wrong buttons while scrolling through the menus and it can cause to the frustration. As for the Walkman and camera buttons on the side of the phone proved surprisingly responsive. Thus in my personal point of views, , it should be more suitable to female instead of male due to its small keypad. Hehehe.

As we know, this W880i is a 3G phone thus it comes with two cameras: A primary 2-megapixel camera behind the LCD display and the second lens are at the front for video calls (3G purposes).

For your information, the standard bundle of the W880i includes a USB cable, handsfree headset, AC adapter, 1GB Memory Stick Micro cards as well as manuals and software CD.

Features
Both W880i and Samsung Ultra Edition 8.4 almost having the same features such as comes with 3G capabilities, both slim candy-bar, sports a 2-megapixel camera, expandable memory and Bluetooth stereo support but both also lack of FM radio features.

The second-generation music player features an updated, more user-friendly interface that allows users to add album clipart and manage playlists. It also adds stereo widening, visualization and skin effects on top of the equalizer and play mode functions. The player allows you to run music in the background while performing other tasks such as SMS texting or surfing the Web, unlike the Samsung Ultra Edition 8.4. W880i missing out the HSDPA features which other major players such as Motorola and Samsung have announced HSDPA offering. However, most users will still find the Walkman phone fairly well-equipped with 3G, Bluetooth (with A2DP stereo profile) and USB. Also supported on the handset are Picture Blogging, PictBridge and Java MIDP 2.0. The flight mode can be activated when using the phone on a plane.
